Important Information for Escalante Schools
Thank you for your understanding and support this past week as our Escalante schools temporarily transitioned from in school to distance learning. After careful consideration, the decision has been made to return to school for in-person instruction beginning Monday, October 23, 2020.
Our ability to return to school has been made possible by school and district employees who have volunteered to help cover essential services. This level of sacrifice and teamwork is a unique quality of our school community.
It is our priority to keep students in school, where we know they receive the most beneficial instruction and support. Distance learning will only be considered once all other options have been thoroughly explored. As a community, you can directly influence our likelihood of staying in school and participating in extracurricular activities. The spread of COVID-19 puts our schools at risk of future closures. More importantly, it can affect the health and well-being of our teachers, staff, and students.
The research is clear that the strategies used in schools (masks, social distancing, hygiene etiquette, stay home when sick, and increased sanitization) are working. However, these strategies are inadequate if they are not reinforced independently of the school setting. For this reason, our district and local schools ask for your support by applying these tactics when outside of our facilities, especially when participating in large group gatherings like family reunions, weddings, funerals, and sporting events.
