County Commissioners

I would like to extend a special thank you to our County Commissioners.  I asked the Commissioners if they would be willing to help Garfield County School District with the preparatory work for three capital projects.  The Commissioners agreed to help the District level two parking lots in preparation for new parking lots and to remove the top surface of the Panguitch High School track.  When the District received the bids and quotes to complete these projects, the totals exceeded $60,000.  Without the Commissioners help, the District would have been required to pay for the transportation of equipment from St. George along with the labor costs to complete the projects.  The District was able to take the savings from the project and finish the parking lots with a local cement contractor.  With the Commissioners help, taxpayers saved $60,000 and local workers completed these projects.  We have three wonderful County Commissioners and I would like to thank them once again.

On a different note, you will be hearing about grading schools in the news.  The District will be providing information in the future on how our schools were graded.  A portion of the grading schools information will be available to the public on September 1, with additional information made public on September 30.   We will pass this information onto the public when it becomes available.
