GCSD 2014-15 District Calendar

In preparation for the 2014-2015 school year, the Garfield County School Board will receive a recommendation on a school calendar at the April School Board meeting.  The District has considered four calendars with employees voting for their preferred calendar.  The calendar with the most votes will be recommended to the Board for their approval.  Because of how the winter holidays fell for this calendar year it was a little more challenging.   Students will have a full two weeks for winter break this year.  With such a long break it required an earlier start date and later dismissal date.  This year school will start on August 19, 2014 and end on May 22, 2015.  Every school district in Utah has the autonomy to adopt their own individual calendar.  The only requirement from the State Office of Education is 180 days of school with a minimum 990 hours of instruction. The calendar will be available on the District webpage April 25, 2014.  I hope by adopting this calendar early it will allow you to plan for your holidays and vacations in advance.
