Sage Assessment Scores

On October 20, 2014 the Utah State Office of Education will release the student’s scores for the SAGE end-of-year assessment administered last spring. I have asked each school to send copy of my letter along with a letter from the USOE explaining the new standards, new tests and new scoring system. Please take time to read the letters; they will answer many of your questions. Your student’s scores will be available through the school where they attend. The schools in the District will be holding SEP and SEOP conferences also known as parent teacher conferences in the near future to meet with parents and review the scores. Please be aware, the new SAGE test is aligned with college and career readiness which makes the passing score more challenging than in prior tests. The number of students in the State of Utah who are considered proficient will be substantially lower this year because changes in the new standards, test, and scoring systems. I will report the SAGE scores to the public for each school after they have become available to the public. For more information on the SAGE test you can access http://www.schools.utah.gov/assessment/SAGE-Communication.aspx. Please know we are committed to help everyone understand the grading system and utilize the data to improve the quality of instruction by providing specific interventions where students may be struggling. Thank you for your patience as we move forward with conveying this information to the parents and students.
