Sterling Scholar 2015

On April 9, 2015, I had the privilege of attending the 37th Annual Sterling Scholar Awards program present by Deseret News and the KSL Broadcasting Group.  Students from Garfield School District competed against seniors from Desert Hills, Dixie, Enterprise, Hurricane, Pine View, Snow Canyon, Tuacahn, Canyon View, Cedar, Parowan, Beaver, Milford, Kanab, and Valley.  I would like to congratulate and compliment the students from Garfield School District who competed in this prestigious competition.  Each student dedicates many hours to organizing and completing an extensive portfolio relating to each specific content area.  Students then participate in a series of interviews in front of judges throughout the day.  The students from Garfield School District represented themselves, their schools and their communities very well.  I would like to thank the parents of the sterling scholar students for helping and supporting them throughout this process.  I would like to congratulate Larsen Perkins for being selected as a runner up in the Agricultural Science category.  All of the students who competed in the Sterling Scholar Competition are eligible to receive a scholarship from Dixie State University. I would also like to those individuals from our District who volunteered their time to be judges and the Sterling Scholar School Coordinators who helped our students prepare for the competition.
