Welcome Back Students

I would personally like to welcome all of the students in Garfield County School District to a new school year.  I know the teachers are ready to welcome students into their new classrooms.  I have confidence in the teachers in our District to provide a caring environment where students feel safe, valued and receive a high level of academic instruction.  The District has hired nine highly qualified new teachers for the 2015-2016 school year.  The teachers have participated in GCSD Core Academy where they have developed scope and sequence in the new Reading Wonders program.  I appreciate the time and effort the teachers have dedicated to understanding the new reading curriculum.  Parents of elementary students will see the new Reading Wonders program coming home with students this year.

Many employees have spent numerous hours during the summer to prepare for the first day of school.  I appreciate the custodians and classified personnel in the District who work during summer to assure the facilities, school lunch, and transportation are ready to begin the year.  For elementary students, please write your students names on backpack, lunchboxes, or items your students may leave behind.  Please review the materials sent home by the schools and your child’s teacher at the beginning of the year to help them understand the procedures and expectations in the classroom.  If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher for additional clarifications or the building administrator.  Students, welcome to the beginning of another successful year!
