What’s in a Grade?

Most recently, the Utah State Board of Education released the yearly school grades as compared one with another.  Several weeks back, I commented on the assessment score for the district but this week the grade that comes with the results goes public.

As a whole, Garfield County schools did great.  While some schools struggled with this or students with that, general statistics for all show some great scores for our team.  Congratulations to our teachers and students.

Escalante Elementary did a superb job in receiving an A grade with substantial success in all three disciplines.  Remaining district schools received a B grade with participation rates well above average.  Panguitch Elementary showed excellent MPG for growth compared with last year.  When comparing exam results over a three year period, the district experienced growth in all three disciplines with the greatest increase in Mathematics. The only decrease from last year to this year is in Language Arts which went from 45.5 to 43.6.
