Summer Interventions

With summer in full swing, parents may be looking for resources to help their students retain academic skills during the long summer days.  Many valuable resources exist online at the parents finger tips such as Math Fact Café http://www.mathfactcafe.com/which contains basic math worksheets for 1st through 4th grade curriculum.   Math Fact Café, has the ability to generate worksheets for add, subtract, multiplication, time and money concepts.  In Garfield School District, we use “Go Math” by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to teach the kindergarten thought 6th grade math curriculum.  Parents and students can access the “Go Math” resources without setting up an account by selecting

In the “Go Math” program, students have access to, “Learn the Math”, “Do the Math”, “Independent Practice”, and the “Quiz”.  Each math lesson is organized by grade level and chapter topics.  If your student enjoys having books read to them, I would suggest the following web page for elementary age children. http://www.readtomelv.com/current-books/

I hope you will take time each day during the summer to incorporate some type of academic instruction to improve your student’s academic interests.
