What Counts in Education

The Garfield County School Board will be sponsoring an important community forum titled “What Counts in Education” on August 4th at Escalante High School from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm to discuss community solutions to rural challenges.  The purpose of the forum is to explore with our community how the effectiveness and quality of our public schools should be measured.  One important measure, certainly, is how well students perform on assessments but we want our schools to focus on more than just testing.  We are always looking for ways to make our schools better.  The results of the “What Counts” meeting will help the Board of Education, the district administration and our individual schools make future decisions, school improvement plans, goals, and policies. The Board has discussed the possibility of holding similar meeting in Tropic and Panguitch during the 2015-2016 school year.  We will keep you informed of the upcoming meetings.
