Thank You GCSD

I would like to begin by publicly thanking the Garfield County School Board for offering me the superintendent position five years ago.  The Board has been instrumental in correcting the financial shortfalls, adopting policies, increasing student safety, providing needed resources to teachers, and increasing the overall educational process across the district.  Personally, I would like to thank GCSB, teachers, staff, community members, and students for the opportunity I have had the past five years to be the superintendent of the Garfield County School District.  My family has also supported me through this superintendency, to which I’m truly grateful.  With every person, there is a season, a beginning, and an end.  As such, I have chosen to tenure my resignation as superintendent of the GCSD to accept the superintendent position in the Kane County School District beginning July 1, 2016.  After careful thought and consideration, Melinda and I believe this change in employment is the best thing for our family at this time.  Please do not speculate, place blame, or try to read more into this statement than needs to be.  Simply, we believe it is the right decision for our family at this time, nothing more.

I would be ungrateful if I did not thank each of you for your support of my family and me.  Thank you to the teachers and coaches who have taught my children and have been such positive role models in their lives.  Thanks to our personal friends who have allowed us into your groups and made us feel part of the community.  The community of Panguitch has welcomed my family with open arms, to which I’m forever grateful.  I would like to extend a special thanks to those individuals in the district office who have worked side by side with me each day and helped to train me in this difficult position.  I may be leaving this position, but plan to take the friendships we have made with us.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being the superintendent of the Garfield County School District.  It has been a pleasure working with such wonderful individuals as yourselves.
