New Superintendent of Schools Announced

After an extensive search and publication of the vacant superintendent position, through the Utah State School Board’s Association, the Garfield County School Board utilized parents, teachers, and administrators to screen the applications to the final candidates.  At the conclusion of the interviews, the Garfield County School District Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of a new superintendent to replace Ben Dalton who has accepted the position of superintendent in Kane County School District.  Tracy Davis will begin on July 1st.  He is currently serving in Beaver County School District as the district director of the following programs: Assessment, Secondary Schools, Title III, Career and Technical Education, Technology, Student Services, Adult Education, and Distance Learning.  In the past he has served as a vice principal, and has taught 6th grade, math, science, and computer science courses.  Mr. Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in physical science, computer science, and mathematics from Southern Utah University, and a Master’s degree in secondary education, and an administrative certificate from Utah State University in middle and secondary education.  He comes to Garfield County highly recommended by coworkers, supervisors, and past students.   On a personal note, I have known Mr. Davis for a number of years and will assure you he possess the skill set needed for this position.  He is married to Verlane, and they have three children.  Mr. Davis has a wide variety of interests including music, home renovation, and he currently owns three successful technology firms. Board President Ken Platt said, “We welcome Mr. Davis to Garfield County School District and look forward to working with him.”
